Estrellita & Co

What is your business name and how did you come up with it?

I'd recently had my hours reduced at work following the end of a secondment, this left me working just 2 days a week, this meant both my two little boys would be at school whilst I was at home, I had to do something, something that I loved. That’s when me and my husband came up with the idea to sell children’s clothing and make it a mission to create my own brand (which I’m still working on).

What products do you sell?

I sell children’s clothing for and accessories along with my own branded t-shirts

What does a typical day look like?

A typical day for me consists of lots of caffeine especially after the school run! Scouring the wholesalers for sometimes hours to find that perfect piece of clothing that I know others will love. Always thinking and looking for inspiration to help me create/improve my brand, promoting my business and in between all of that doing the housework and working part time as a customer service advisor twice a week.

What hours are you open?

I’m never closed

How many people are behind your business?

Just me! A mum of two boys and sometimes my husband will chip in.

When did you launch?

August 2017

What's your favourite part of running your business?

I love reading the feedback from my customers and seeing the photos they post. It makes me feel like I’m doing this right!

What got you into the business?

Ever since having my two boys I’ve always wanted my own business selling children’s clothing and this just seemed like the perfect opportunity.

What makes your business unique?

I try and find clothing that's not really seen too much out on the high street.

Have you any previous experience or interest in this field?

Never! I have never done anything like this before I’m learning as I go along. I’ve never built my own website but after hours and hours I managed it.

Do you have a shop/website?

Yes, I have a website:

Do you offer specialist services?

Not yet, but hopefully soon.

Where are you located? Does your location reflect your product?

I live in North Norfolk, not far from the coast.

How do the seasons affect your business?

I try to find seasonal clothing, we currently have some lovely bunny pieces perfect for Easter, I haven’t had my business running long enough yet to see what the affects are of the Christmas rush.

Do you have any projects coming up?

Yes, I do indeed! I’ve had some lovely designs created and working on lots of different ideas for the brand.

What has been your biggest achievement in your business?

My biggest achievement is having the courage to go for it, it was very daunting to get my business out there, especially when my friends and family asked me about it and saying, “yes that IS my business” and I’m rather proud of what I have created so far, especially as I’ve had no experience doing anything like this before.

What has been your biggest hurdle?

As mentioned previously it was pressing that “publish” button on my Facebook page and making my business known to the rest of the world.

What do you think has made your business successful?

I’m still working on it, but I definitely think engaging with your customers is really important and being unique.

What advice would you give someone looking to start a business?

I would tell them to just go for it. Even if you’ve never had any experience before it doesn’t matter. What is there to lose!

What is your price range of products?

I would say the price range is very reasonable and realistic.

What are your popular products?

I would say all our products are popular.

Where do you see your business in 5 years’ time?

I hope that it is still successful and a brand that people will recognise.

Tell us a little about you the owner?

My name is Jade, I’m 28 I have two little boys (6 & 4), I’ve been married for 2 years and I’ve been in the same job as a customer service advisor within the housing association industry for the last 10 years.

If you had to describe your business in five words, what would they be?

Unique / modern / fun / strong / exciting

Who is your business aimed at?

Anyone with children

What makes you stand out from your competitors?

I’m always looking for ways to improve and being a mum makes the business relatable.

Have you got anything exciting coming up?

Yes, I’m looking into attending some local events one being the parent and baby show that’s taking place at the UEA (Norwich) in April another big step for me. I’m also working on creating my own products with some amazing designs I’ve had created for me.
