What is your business name and how did you come up with it?

Elizabeth Rose Events - my middle name and my sister's middle name, I wanted something that was personal without being my own name.

What services do you offer?

Wedding Planning and Styling.

What does a typical day look like?

A lot of Instagram, blogging and designing mood boards and timelines - there's no typical day with every couple being unique!

What hours are you open?

Effectively, whenever my couples need me but I tend to work between 9 and 7 (not straight through!)

How many people are behind your business? 

Only me, but with an incredible support system!

When did you launch?

Summer 2017

What's your favourite part of running your business?

Being able to do what I love and see couples' reactions to their wedding day.

What got you into the business?

I've loved weddings since I can remember but having studied Event Management at University and then working in the corporate world I realised that I wanted to create that one special day for people.

What makes your business unique?

I specialise in both planning and styling, and love both. I have experience in both which means I can offer a rounded package and bring my expertise in both to couples.

Have you any previous experience or interest in this field?

My degree in Event Management as well as experience running large scale events at the O2, Wembley and a range of events throughout the UK.

Where are you located? Does your location reflect your service?  

I'm based in London and work throughout the Home Counties and the majority of interest comes from those areas.

How do the seasons affect your business? 

Wedding season is wedding season!! Although it seems to be starting earlier and ending later each year!

Do you have any projects coming up?

I'm really focusing on my styling packages as stand alone packages rather than incorporated in my planning packages.

What has been your biggest achievement in your business?

Starting it! I think that's under-celebrated. To start a business is a huge deal and a huge personal achievement.

What has been your biggest hurdle?

Sticking to my target market even when nothing is happening. Not wanting to please everyone just to get clients and bookings. And sticking at it all, not loosing faith in the quiet times.

What do you think has made your business successful?

Putting myself out there as a personality as well as my products, having the two hand in hand people really buy in to, they want to see the face behind it all.

What advice would you give someone looking to start a business?

Make sure you think about your target market, how to reach them and put a plan in place before you take the big leap, but when you do - do it with all you've got! You can do this!

What is your price range of services?

It completely depends but around £300 - £2,000

What are your popular services?

Wedding styling - helping people focus all their ideas into a cohesive wedding day and help them pull it off on the day.

Where do you see your business in 5 years’ time?

Booked up for the summer season, with multiple planners on board.

Tell us a little about you the owner?

I worked in a high-end catering company doing weddings, dinners and festivals and then ran the events for a publishing company in the city - working with 5 brands running conferences and awards dinners. I also volunteer for a church running multi-day conferences and events for up to 10,000 people!

If you had to describe your business in five words, what would they be?

Personal, creative, fun, beautiful and helpful.

Who is your business aimed at?

Couples aged 25-35 who are planning their wedding but have busy work and personal lives.

What makes you stand out from your competitors?

I think in wedding planning, there are so many of us because each couple needs something different and each couple needs to get on with their planner. Doing both the planning and the styling (and enjoying both) helps me to stand out though!
