What is your business name and how did you come up with it?
Divine Crystal Co: Reiki & Crystal Therapy; I came up with this name as I wanted it to have a spiritual sound as it links in with the content and services I offer.
What services do you offer?
The services I offer are natural holistic therapy services with the addition of an online shop, I work from my treatment room at home and also attend local fairs and events where I offer treatments. All my treatments are non invasive and natural alternatives to health.
What does a typical day look like?
In this business there is always a lack of a typical day :). My day varies from week to week depending on what I am doing whether it be seeing clients or putting together and sending out orders. To coming up with new ideas and products to keep my store looking fresh and exciting. Through to updating websites and completing admin and paperwork to visiting the wholesalers, each week is completely different to the next.
What hours are you open?
My normal operating hours are Monday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
How many people are behind your business?
Just me - I am a small independent company. I do have the occasional help from my sister who helps me at events as a customer service assistant to engage with customers if I am working with a client to ensure no one is left feeling ignored, she also acts as a chaperone to help female clients feel more at ease if they needed one.

I launched in September 2017
What's your favourite part of running your business?
My clients and customers - this is the part of the job I love the most. I really enjoy interacting and engaging with new and regular customers and ensuring that they are at the forefront of everything I do. From creating new product ideas through to therapy sessions tailored to the client's individual needs, even my crystal sales are put together order by order for that specific customer I never stockpile orders ready to be sent out each crystal order is handpicked by myself.
What got you into the business?
For years I knew had a side to me that had a desire to help others, as a sensitive child and even continuing this into my adult life I always seemed to attract those who would easily tell me their worries and concerns. As I grew older I began to realise that I was an ‘Empath’ which in spiritual terms means a deeply sensitive person to feelings and emotions. So began my journey to where I am today helping those who wish for simpler and more natural methods of treatment, which allows me to fulfill my lifelong passion of helping others.
What makes your business unique?
It is hard for me to say what sets me apart from others in the same field, it is a deeply competitive business which in recent years has seen a boom in interest. I feel that what sets me apart from others is my customer service skills and unique ability to relate to my customers on all levels. As a naturally meticulous person all the items I sell are put together with the most extreme precision and care, all my crystals are sold order by order and all the crystals I chose are chosen especially for the customer. In relation to my treatment services I am never forceful or apply typical pressure buying techniques, all treatments are led by the clients in both structure and duration. I am always glad to advise and help where I can but ultimately the clients are the ones who are in control of the sessions, and I go above and beyond to ensure they leave feeling much better than they did when they walked in.
Have you any previous experience or interest in this field?
Prior to this line of work I had never worked professionally in this field, I had always followed spiritual techniques throughout my life from card reading to connecting to my angels and guides. I am now fully qualified and accredited in crystal healing and Reiki and I come complete with accreditation from the International Alliance Of Holistic Therapists and the Complementary Medical Association.
Do you have a shop/website?
I do not currently have a shop location due to being a new business but this is something I aspire to have in the future. I do run my business from my home; I have a small treatment room for my clients and all my online sales are dispatched and created at home. I currently have a main website with an online shop and also run a shop from the ‘Etsy’ platform.
Do you offer specialist services?
I do not have specialist services; although I do tailor my therapy sessions to my clients individual needs and circumstances. I can also create custom and personalised crystal orders for anyone's needs and circumstances which can be made to order.
Where are you located? Does your location reflect your service?
I am located in the small Fenland market town Chatteris in Cambridgeshire, this quiet community is known historically as a market town for farmers. Set in the fens a naturally flat but fertile part of the country, it is the perfect setting for escaping it all. I would not say my location directly influences my products or services due to it being a smaller community, however I do spend a lot of time walking my dog along the rivers and fields which are in abundance in the this area. It is often on these walks I can reflect and think up new ways to keep my business current and fresh.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes I can and do ship worldwide although a majority of my work is done from within the UK
How do the seasons affect your business?
The seasons do not really affect my work in regards to online sales, although this can affect my events as they tend to run from March through to October, I would say are my busier months in regards to clients.
Do you have any projects coming up?
I am always looking for new and inspiring product ideas, working from Etsy there are an abundance of fantastic products on offer. I naturally have to keep up the pace and try to find new and exciting ways to progress, I am currently researching a new range of products which will hopefully start production in the next month or so. I am hoping to introduce crystal candles, crystal infused room sprays and crystal essences. These will all be unique in what they offer and each one can be personalised to suit the buyer and will also be made to order, in regards to the treatment side of the business I am hoping to continue expanding my knowledge and skill set to include other natural treatments.
What has been your biggest achievement in your business?
Starting a business has proved to have many achievements whether big or small, from my first crystal sale to attending events and having the courage to go out into the public and show what I have to offer. For me the biggest achievement has been overcoming self doubt business sense and customer service has always come easy to me but believing in myself has always been an issue. So for my biggest achievement has been to overcome my own personal battle of low self confidence and truly believing I can and do make a difference in people lives.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle has been those that feel this line of work is not credible and often the judgements that come with it. Starting a business in this industry comes with many challenges from the start and it is important to understand that not everyone will agree or want the services I offer, so targeting and securing clientele has been the hardest part for me.
What do you think has made your business successful?
I believe that my ability to relate to my clients has been what was made me successful, from the second I started I knew I wanted my clients to be at the forefront of everything I did. I have worked in businesses where money proceeded everything else and customers needs were left behind. In my eyes each person that supports my business is of value whether they spend 0.90p on one crystal and never return, or come for regular treatment once a week. From the moment I make initial contact I strive to ensure they are never left behind even if I have never meet them on Etsy for example, I always contact the buyer straight after a purchase to say thank you and keep them updated the whole way through the process so they are never left forgotten.
What advice would you give someone looking to start a business?
Research, plan and be prepared - These to me are the 3 biggest things I have had to learn. But most of all follow your heart and if you truly believe you want a business and you want it to succeed you cannot just give it 50% you have to give it 110% and at the start be prepared for long hours for not very much in return, but never lose faith in yourself or your business no matter how hard it gets keep on going.
What is your price range of products/services?
My prices range depending on where you are buying from in regards to my online store, and my therapy sessions are in line with the market average. On my main website you can buy a single tumblestone from as little as 90p with postage as low as 99p and my treatments start from around £25.00 per hour.
What are your popular product/services?
My most popular treatment is Reiki - clients find Reiki helps them in all areas of their life and they can begin to feel better after just one session. My online store my sets are the most popular from chakra sets through to crystals for everyday issues.
Where do you see your business in 5 years' time?
I hope that in 5 years time I will be the proud owner of a shop where I can offer products at the front and treatments at the back, I would like to own a place where people can feel surrounded by love and care and a place that people can use as a sanctuary to escape it all. My ultimate dream is to have a larger shop which will sell crystals and other spiritual items, with treatments and a meditation space in a quiet room at the back where I can also run workshops but also a small area with comfy chairs and a bookcase where people can sit and read and really have some time to themselves surrounded by crystals and positive energy with maybe even a small cafe so they can grab themselves a drink. A total haven for all to energy not just those that are spiritual but something that can welcome everyone.
Tell us a little about you the owner?
Well where do I start - I have worked for many industries from equestrian through to hotel management. I have always worked in customer focused roles which I feel has given me the experience and knowledge to engage with my customers and the ability to always see the bigger picture. In my personal life I am private and reserved and spend a lot of time outdoors, my favourite place to be is the beach or walking along the river with my dog. I am a naturally quiet and sensitive person who cares deeply for others and the world we live in, I am also passionate about many issues from deforestation which leads to the ruin of natural habitats through to supporting and promoting the need for better mental health support.

Who is your business aimed at?
My business is aimed at all gender identities that are 18+, due to the nature of the business I have found that a majority of my clients are female.
What makes you stand out from your competitors?
In this industry the competition is fierce and there are many others that sell equally wonderful items and services, I like to think that I fit well into the competition and again I feel that my empathy and commitment to my customers and clients is what sets me apart from others. My business does not solely focus on profit and turnover much to my detriment at times, but it focuses on the real people behind the orders and the treatments. From all walks of life, genders and ages I try to cater to everyone and ensure that no matter what or where they come from or how much they spend each and every one of them is valued.
Have you got anything exciting coming up?
I have some wonderful new product ranges lined up - these I feel will add more variety to my business and really give customers that little extra luxury in their life.
What can customers expect from you as a business?
My main core values are instilled in everything I do when running my business they are; Honesty, Transparency, Value, Compassion, Empathy and above all respect for each and every person I deal with. I will never let any customer feel like their money has been wasted or that they cannot trust me to do my utmost best for them. All my prices are within the lower end of the market average to ensure that no matter where you come from you will have access to everything I have to offer, I truly am all about you and I will always strive to keep my business like this.
